University of Turin TUCC

The Turin University Culture Collection – TUCC – was born from the union of the microorganism collections present in four departments of the University of Turin: Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology (DBIOS), Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (DISAFA), Department of Public Health and Pediatrics (DSSPP), Department of Veterinary Science (DSV).
Through an online platform, TUCC is setting up a database that will allow to look over all the available microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, filamentous fungi, microalgae); besides, TUCC provides important services for the academic world, industry and institutions. See http://www.tucc.unito.it/.
TUCC brings together the microbial resources present at the University, optimizing its management and ensuring accessibility to both resources and services that individual structures can provide. Therefore, TUCC allows a better use of the biotechnological potential of the preserved microorganisms and values the expertise of the personnel working in the different structures. Finally, TUCC guarantees a correct administration of complex legal procedures in order to comply with national and international rules regarding access, distribution and exploitation of genetic resources.
